I love the trail up Bell Canyon, it is beautiful and the trail head is quick and easy to get to from the valley. There are two trail heads, one is at the bottom of Little Cottonwood Canyon and one is about a mile south of Little Cottonwood Canyon, on Wasatch Blvd. The first destination on the trail is Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir. Getting to this point is pretty easy, the trail head from the bottom of Little Cottonwood is the easier of the two, but slightly longer. You will be at the reservoir in under a mile on both trails. Fishing is good here, the reservoir is stocked with fish.

From here the trail gets very pretty, it's a fairly easy to moderate hike for the next .75 miles. It crosses the stream and then follows along it for a while.
Several cascades along the trail!
The trail starts to get steep at about mile 2, some sections you are just walking up boulders/rocks. At 2.8 miles (from the Little Cottonwood trail head) there is a small spring that crosses the trail, about 20ft further there is a trail that goes off to the left. It's not easy to see so watch for the spring. This is the main destination, Bell Canyon Waterfall, it's one of my favorites!

A lone orange tree above the waterfall.
The view back towards the valley from the waterfall.
I think most people turn around and go back at this point, however there is a lot more to see further up the trail. From this point on I would say it's very steep, but it's so beautiful. There are a few more smaller waterfalls, and the mountain views are incredible. The next main destination would be Upper Bell Canyon Reservoir, but really it's all great from this point on.
